World AIDS Day 2017

On December 1, 2017, people from across NIH and the community gathered at the NIH Office of AIDS Research on Fisher's Lane in Rockville, Maryland for the OAR-sponsored World AIDS Day Forum HIV and Beyond: The Benefits of HIV Research. Speakers representing NIH institutes discussed the impact of HIV research across scientific disciplines, including hepatitis C, cardiovascular disease, behavioral and social sciences, leukemia therapy, and organ transplantation. The event also included a panel discussion and lively Q&A.

The forum featured opening and closing remarks by Maureen Goodenow, Ph.D., NIH Associate Director for AIDS Research and Director of OAR, and was moderated by Gina Brown, M.D., OAR Health Scientist Administrator. The speakers and their featured presentations included the following:
