HIV Clinical Practice Guidelines and OARAC
OARAC convenes working groups to write, review, and update federally approved medical practice guidelines for HIV and AIDS. The guidelines, available at Clinicalinfo.HIV.gov, are recommended for use by U.S. health care practitioners and inform medical providers and the public around the world.
The HIV Antiretroviral and Opportunistic Infections Guidelines Working Groups of OARAC develop the following guidelines:
- Antiretroviral (ARV) Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents
- Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Infected Adults and Adolescents
- Antiretroviral Therapy and Medical Management of Children Living with HIV
- Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Exposed and HIV-Infected Children
- Treatment of Pregnant Women with HIV Infection and Prevention of Perinatal Transmission
- Guidance for Non-HIV-Specialized Providers Caring for Persons with HIV Who Have been Displaced by Disasters (such as a Hurricane)
Working group members include experts from academia, clinical medicine, community organizations, several U.S. Department of Health and Human Services agencies, and HIV experts—including physicians, pharmacists, researchers, and HIV treatment advocates—from the United States and abroad.
