OAR Job Opportunity: Health Scientist Administrator—GS 14/15
The NIH Office of AIDS Research (OAR) is seeking exceptional candidates with diverse skill sets to provide scientific leadership and direction to the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of NIH HIV research. The NIH HIV research program represents the largest public investment in HIV and AIDS research globally.
NIH OAR HSA responsibilities include:
- Expert advice to establish NIH HIV research priorities
- Assist with the development of the strategic plan for HIV research
- Ensure that funds are invested in the areas of highest scientific priority
- Convene stakeholders, encourage collaboration, and catalyze innovation to address emerging scientific and public health challenges
- Oversee, coordinate, and manage assigned portfolio(s) of NIH HIV-related research, including scientific, budgetary, legislative, and policy components of NIH HIV and AIDS research
Key preferred qualifications include:
- Expertise in virology, immunology, vaccinology, clinical medicine, behavioral/social science, epidemiology and/or implementation/communication science
- Experience in HIV or HIV-related research, programming, policy and/or advocacy preferred
- Strong innovative and critical thinking capability; strong analytic skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
